Of that total, 334,000 were pure album sales, according to Nielsen Music.
In the week since, the album has rocketed to the top of the Billboard 200 chart, which ranks the most popular albums of the week based on different consumption metrics, including traditional album sales and streaming.
DRAKE & FUTURE join an elite club of only 10 other artists who achieved #1 on the Billboard Top 200 with two albums in the same year.
After weeks of online hints and overwhelming internet buzz, DRAKE exclusively premiered What A Time To Be Alive on his Beats 1 show, OVO Sound in the hours prior to the release on Apple Music.
Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey debuts Honeymoon at two and last week’s top pick, The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness, slips to three.

Another Drake “mixtape”, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, debuted at no. 1 back in February while Future’s Dirty Sprite 2 also came in at the top spot in July. Future scored his first No. 1 almost two months ago with DS2.
The duo’s chart achievement makes them the first rap duo since 2004 to have separate No. 1 albums in one year.
The last hip-hop act to earn multiple No. 1s within a calendar year was Jay Z back in 2004. Future also had a No. 1 album with “DS2”.
What a Time… is Drake’s Fifth No. 1 Album: Drake has collected five straight No. 1s on the Billboard 200, all of which debuted at No. 1. With the drop of their collaborative effort, What a Time To Be Alive (WATTBA), Drake and Future attempt to capitalize on the recent successes of their respective 2015-released albums (Drake with If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and Future with DS2).
