Apple Music Festival: ten nights of spectacular live shows coming September
The Apple Music Festival takes place every evening at the Roundhouse in London between September 19 and September 28.
Previously known as the iTunes Festival, the Apple Music Festival will be held at The Roundhouse, its usual venue. Pharrell Williams, One Direction, Florence + The Machine and Disclosure are among the initial acts that have been confirmed for this year.
“Wow, I’m so grateful to be performing at the Apple Music Festival”.
The remainder of the lineup will be revealed in the coming weeks.
“We wanted to do something really special for music fans this year”, Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, said in a statement. As in previous years, UK residents will have to win tickets to go to the festival (through Apple Music as well as various media partners), while worldwide fans can tune in to watch live performances on iOS devices and iTunes. It is also notably shorter than the typical 30 days of concerts. “Thank you for having me!”
As before, the gigs will be broadcast live and archived – now through Apple Music. Those looking to apply can do so through the Apple Music app or through iTunes, though the system is now unavailable.
More detail about Apple Music Connect is here, while those wanting to dance to the drum of a different Beats 1 can get more info here. Apple’s annual London jamboree is back under a new name, in keeping with the company’s streaming ambitions.
Past performers have included Adele, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Elton John.
