Apple Pay Adoption On The Apple Watch Could Hit 95%
As per the results of a study and out of a sample size of 1,000 respondents, 80% of users situated in the United Kingdom and US have made payments through the Watch and found it convenient. Like the Square Cash app, Square Cash for Apple Watch also provides the option to send money to anyone nearby using Bluetooth LE technology, making payments quick and convenient to send.
Square has updated its Square Cash iOS app to make the person-to-person payment service compatible with the Apple Watch.
For the 20% of owners that have yet to make the jump, the top reason cited was Apple Pay’s lack of support for their personal bank. The Apple Watch launched in April, and since then the company’s new wearable has gotten mixed reviews, with some saying that it’s nothing new while others have sent testimonials about the ease of its use. The remaining 20% of respondents indicated they “do not perceive a benefit” to Apple Pay, have security concerns or believe their payment needs are already being met. All you need do is double-tap the watch’s side button, select the credit or debit card you want to use and hold the face of the watch to the payment terminal. The way it works is similar to the iPhone where you basically tap your watch against the terminal and you’re good to go. The publication recently received information from research firm Wristly, which has given insight into how well Apple Pay is doing on Watches. Further dissecting the non-users, Wristly’s findings also detail that “only about 5% of Apple Watch users are unlikely to use Apple Pay”. And 86 percent of those people said they look for the Apple Pay logo when they’re at the checkout counter.
