Apple readies 21-inch iMac with Retina display
Apple is set to refresh its iMac lineup with new processors and improved display panels this quarter. Apple has also announced a back-to-school promotion for a free pair of Beats Solo 2 headphones with the purchase of a new Mac. It should be recalled that Apple released a number of iMac models in October that feature displays of 27 inches.
Apple’s 2015 iMac upgrade is expected to use phosphor material, which is said to improve color saturation significantly on the new displays. It would be a great move from the Cupertino giant’s end if it brings the Retina display to the smaller 21.5-inch iMac range.
It was not so long ago that there was talk that Apple could release a new iMac later this year to coincide with the release of a new CPU, although it would be better suited to the MacBook because of its improvements made to battery life.
Other factors that may help to increase the sales of iMac include better inventory management, promotional pricing, and the fact that Apple was the only PC manufacturer who grew in terms of shipments.
Kuo didn’t say anything about the validity of early rumors involving an 8K iMac. Apple’s screen supplier, LG Electronics has hinted that a new version of the iMac will be launched later this year. His latest prediction is that Apple will unveil revised iMac models in the third quarter of 2015 with some considerable enhancements.
The new Apple iMacs are rumored to launch some time this quarter, we could possibly see them at the company’s iPhone 6S event in September.
