Apple reportedly plans iPhones with curved screens and non-touch gesture controls
Instead of curving outwards towards the edges of the phone, Apple is considering displays that have a concave curvature that slowly dips towards the center from the top and bottom.
Bloomberg says that these features are likely two years away from release. Samsung plans to launch its Wall MicroLED TV this coming August, and LG Display is also expected to unveil a large-screen microLED TV latr this year.
“iPad is our vision for the future of computing, and hundreds of millions of people around the world use it every day at work, in school and for play”. To stay ahead, Apple needs compelling new features and designs.
The Tame Apple Press claims that Apple’s move to curved screens will make it completely different from its rivals because none of them has such super-evolved high technology. As long as this wearable is not as popular as the iOS-driven iPhone flagships, some developers simply chose to discontinue their Apple Watch apps and focus on their versions for iPhone instead. It sounds like whatever Apple has planned for its upcoming handsets, however, will be more pronounced. Both these features are said to be in early test and development stages and it may as well be the case that Apple may decide to put this on a halt. Apple as always has not made any comments on this issue, so we would have to wait to see if the report eventually turns out to be legit.
Curved screens are the other new feature that Apple is reportedly working on. One of the current rumors is that Samsung is working on a foldable smartphone. You’ll need to get pretty close to the screen, though, because the gestures rely on technology built into the display itself.
If you didn’t think the iPhone X was a substantial enough shift in terms of design, it looks like Apple has a more significant revamp in store.
