Apple Responds To Claims They Slow Down iPhones With Older Batteries

Professor Subodh Mhaisalkar, executive director of the Energy Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University, said that rather than goading iPhone users to upgrade by making their older phones slower, Apple’s move in fact helped consumers by allowing batteries to be used for a longer period.

The secretive tech giant finally confirmed this theory, adding fuel to the fire of a conspiracy theory stating that tech companies purposely “kill off” their old models to get their users to buy newer models. That said, some people would assume Apple made up a plausible excuse to cover how it’s trying to trick people into buying new iPhones. He probed the iPhone 6S and 7 and found some devices were slower despite having a software update. And to combat this, Apple’s every update on an older phone slows down the processor, thus not demanding those big spikes that wear out the battery.

So to prevent that, the company reportedly says it has created software that manages batteries as they age. So it is highly recommended to use the apps on your device which uses less battery.

A way to fix this is to get your battery replaced.

Apple said a year ago it had released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE to help avoid such blackouts.
