Apple’s New iPhone Makes Hissing Sound Under Load (AAPL)
Demand for the new gadgets appears to be extremely high, with both the new “jet black” model and the larger iPhone 7 Plus selling out before they even hit the shelves.
Thinking about splurging on an iPhone 7? With the iPhone 7 in the wild for two days now, there are some reports of a hissing noise from the A10 Fusion processor when the device is under a heavy load.
Every millimetre of the iPhone 7, and its bigger sibling the iPhone 7 Plus, is being scrutinised following the device’s recent release. Darrell Etherington of TechCrunch, for example, said that he heard the same noise while setting up his device.
One belief is that the noise is being produced by iPhone 7 Plus’ CPU, considering application load seems to directly affect the degree of the hissing sound.
Earlier this week, a problem with the iPhone 7’s home button was reported.
The jury is still out on the issue but, at least for 512pixels who went public with the problem, AppleCare was willing to replace the unit.
The issue was first noted by 512 Pixels’ Stephen Hackett, who posted about the same on Twitter, and also shared a YouTube link to the hissing sound from his iPhone 7 Plus.
AppleInsider notes that it is still not clear whether this issue is really due to the A10 processor, but Apple should be willing to offer free replacements for first batch iPhones with a defective component.
Apple iPhone 7 is making waves for being the hottest device in the market today. However, there might be a new annoyance in store for some surprised fans.
If you’ve bought yourself a shiny new iPhone 7 this weekend then you might want to take a moment to get your ear close to the handset and make sure it’s not making any untoward hissing sounds.
With this latest change Myke Hurley has discovered that the new Home button requires physical skin contact in order for the button to function, it will not work with gloves, or any material such as a T-shirt.
