The company may also unveil a new version of the iPad – a 12.9-inch “Pro” model, according to an earlier report by John Paczkowski of BuzzFeed. Other reports have suggested that Apple plans to launch three iPhones, including a mini variant of the iPhone 6, dubbed the iPhone 6C with a 4-inch screen.
The company’s stock has taken a thumping during a major Wall Street sell-off amid concerns over Apple’s long-term business prospects, especially in China.
On September 9, Apple will host its next iPhone event at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California. It’s also expected to feature an application store for the first time, potentially opening up the device to a far wider range of apps and channels than it has now.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) confirmed its September 9 event yesterday, as it started rolling out media invites for the much-awaited day.
Research Analyst Shannon Cross said “We assume that they may come out with a new iPad at the event as well”. This year’s iPhone launch is expected to include tweaks such as adding ForceTouch technology to the new devices, allowing the iPhones to differentiate between hard and light taps on the display. Rumors circulated that the new Apple TV wasn’t coming out due to the priority being placed on the phones but reports earlier this month hinted at Apple’s talks with ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox ‘rapidly gaining momentum. Streaming via Apple TV requires a second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later. But in typical fashion, Apple is only dropping vague clues about its plans.
