Apple says new $519 watch has FDA approval, touts health gains
The Apple Watch also intermittently analyzes heartbeats in the background for irregularities, or if it exceeds or falls below a specified threshold.
The company also unveiled several new watch faces that take advantage of the larger displays, including images of your loved ones and more fitness information.
Apple’s big event was held today in California, and the first new device to debut is an updated Apple Watch. The back of the Watch lets more cellular signals through, making calls clearer.
If you asked most people what upgrade they’d like on their Apple Watch, most would say that they’d either like it to be round, or to have a large display. This watch has a few little tweaks as well – like the microphone’s location, moved further from the speaker. The display is one of the most important aspects of the watch and there have been plenty of improvements made inside.
The watch uses an in-built accelerator and gyroscope to determine when a fall occurs, which prompts an alert on the watch to make an emergency call. As you rotate the crown, a small haptic motor will simulate clicks.
The S4 chip includes a 64-bit dual-core processor that offers up to double performance compared to previous models. All the updates make it the fastest, biggest, most lovely wearable on the block. Introducing it on stage, Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook called it the number 1 watch in the world.
The watch runs watchOS 5, which will roll out for existing Apple Watches on September 17. Apple also announced that watchOS 5 will start rolling out to supported devices on September 17. It works just like the Karia Mobile device and is sanctioned by the American Heart Association and approved by the FDA. The user interface (UI) has also been redesigned. The Series 3 will still come in a 38mm variation, though you won’t get the incredible display or heart health features.
The Apple Watch Series 3 also lives to see another day, with a price drop to $399 for the GPS-only version.
There will be, of course, a wider range of price points depending on the specific model, case material, and band type that you choose. There are also polished and space black versions available with stainless steel.
However, Nike+ is still here and it now has a new band that’s created to help you stand out during nighttime.
The links shared by All Things How indicate that Apple will unveil both GPS and GPS + Cellular configurations of the 40mm and 44mm Apple Watch models at the September event on Wednesday.
