Apple sends out invitations for the new iPhone event on September 12
“Gather Round”, the invite said, likely referring to the shape of the company’s new campus.
Hours after that company sent out invites for its hardware event, its new iPhone XS devices leaked. In another article, Gizmodo outlines what it “thinks” it knows about the new iPhone: expect three new models ranging in screen size from 5.8 inches to 6.5 inches.
Reports suggest Apple wants to diversify the iPhone lineup by offering more sizes, colors, and price points.
Notorious Apple blog 9to5Mac may have just spoiled the party. There’s also speculation that Apple will build on its laptop lineup with a lightweight, entry-level MacBook aimed at students and others looking for a more budget-friendly option.
Business Insider will cover the iPhone announcement live.
The release date is thought to be in late September, so you won’t have to wait until November to buy this year’s flagship iPhone, like we did with the iPhone X a year ago. However, while we often come across leaked development shots or schematics of Apple’s products, it is a rare thing to see official press renders of its devices before the official launch. These images – as well as other details about the new devices – were obtained and published by Apple news site 9to5Mac on Thursday. Apple shares rose 1.5 per cent to US$226.37 on Thursday afternoon in NY.
The image shows a watch with what appears to be an edge-to-edge display and a new watch face with eight complications, or special functions. It also noted that the Apple Watch 4 will have better compatibility with current watch bands, in case users are looking for additional comfort.
That wasn’t quite open for Apple’s last big event at the Steve Jobs Theater.
