Apple to open first retail store in Singapore late 2016

Oddly, it mentions in passing that “Pure and other tenants will be handing back space to make way for the opening of a new Apple store in late 2016”. Since it’s at an upscale area in the city centre, the Apple Store will likely appeal to many.

One major reason why Singapore may not have received an official Apple Store till now could be real estate, Apple is known to be very particular about the location of its stores, and it may have waited for a couple of years just for the right spot to open up before deciding to create yet another lovely space to sell its products in.

The gym, one of two in Singapore owned by the Hong Kong-based Pure Group, occupies 15,000 square feet of prime retail space in the prestigious mall, fronted with the kind of glass facia that Apple favours in its retail outlets.

Apple does not have an official retail presence in Singapore, a large city-state and country south of Malaysia in Southeast Asia, but the Apple Online Store and dozens of Apple Authorized Resellers operate in the region. Both countries lie several hours from Singapore, making it impossible for customers not to travel long hours to buy an iPhone or any other Apple device.
