Apple to remove home button in upcoming high-end iPhone, report says
And when it comes to a new iPhone, the world just can not wait to get their hands on the latest iOS mobile phones.
If this report is true it would represent the biggest change for an iPhone since the device was first launched in 2007.
With a rumored 5.8-inch edge-to-edge glass, the iPhone 8 might have a large screen size but its overall footprint is going to be smaller, making it simpler to use with a single hand.
The potential fly in the ointment here stems from analyst speculation that given how advanced the iPhone 8’s new features are said to be, Apple may be having production issues.
The report from Bloomberg claims the version of iOS that ships with the new phone will place a bar along the bottom of the screen. Tipped to be called either the iPhone 8 or iPhone Pro, the new handset will be Apple’s flagship through 2018 and comes 10 years after the original went on sale.
Last year, Apple risked the wrath of millions of iPhone users by ditching the headphone button – but this year it’s got the Home button in its sights. The bottom of the screen will host a software bar that can be dragged upwards to open the phone and also to get to the multitasking interface once the phone is unlocked.
Instead of pressing the home button to perform functions such as calling up Siri and viewing app screens, users will maneuver around the iPhone 8 using gestures.
Most of the hardware covered here may have already been finalized by Apple long ago, as pointed out by MacRumors. Assuming that the September 12th is the new iPhone 8 launch date, then here are all the iPhone 8-related keynote dates you need to know.
In other words, the feature should be a nice marketing point for Apple, and the additional accessories revenue from those who do adopt Apple’s wireless charging technology certainly can’t hurt.
When will you be able to buy the iPhone 8?
So far, other rumors have revealed that the iPhone could mute notifications, includes face scanning technology that works even when the phone is on the table, and a screen that fills the frame of the phone except for a little notch that houses sensors, cameras, and earpiece.
How much will the iPhone 8 cost? And the device’s announcement will most likely be paired with the announcement of updated iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models, traditionally branded as “S” devices to indicate the hardware revision.
