Apple to unveil new 4-inch iPhone in March, report says
According to Gurman, Apple plans to offer additional band colour options, and may also release bands that utilise new materials.
The company has been suffering from a reputation for not doing anything innovative with their tech, so this new iPhone may help that image if it’s really in the works. What you can expect to get on this smaller iPhone 5s successor is a design similar to the iPhone 6 models, an 8MP camera on the back and 1.2MP front-facing camera. The 2.2 update offers enhanced Apple Maps functionality (including the Nearby feature present in iOS 9) and the ability to pair several Apple Watch devices to a single iPhone.
The report also quotes an analyst analyst Ben Bajarin Creative Strategies, who said that supply chain now does not indicate production of a new Apple Watch.
By delaying a completely new release, Apple can also build a loyal brand following for the Apple Watch.
Here are the dets’: The iPhone will indeed be the size of the 4/4s/5/5s, but with the guts of the 6. This phone will no longer be under the iPhone 6 family but will be a part of the very popular iPhone 5 family, and will usher a new series altogether, the “E” family lineup.
One of the products that Apple likely has up its sleeve for the rumored March event is a refreshed 4-inch iPhone. Additionally, it will have an NFC chip for Apple Pay (Cupertino hopes this more affordable model could boost adoption of its payment service in the US), as well as live photos support and autofocus for video recording. The design of the iPhone 5 too is attractive (although a little boxy) and if Apple is using the same design, that will to many. Apple will reportedly launch the next iteration of the iPhone 6s, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in September. Enter: the iPhone 5SE, a four-inch model that could be available as early as this Spring.
On hearing about a media event by Apple, we had begun to anticipate a briefing about the launch in March itself. Last year, Apple introduced the iPad Pro, a 12-inch tablet with top-of-the-line specifications and Apple Pencil stylus, but the iPad Air 2 stayed company’s flagship 10-inch tablet.
