Apple updates iWork for iOS 9
Apple has updated its iWork suite of applications for iOS, Mac and iCloud, the company has announced. Also, these apps are supported by 3D Touch on the iPhone.
Apple is releasing updates today for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote on iOS and OS X, adding to both the ability to do split-screen multitasking, one of the major feature additions to its new operating systems. There are tons of other improvements, including keyboard shortcuts when you’re using a wireless keyboard, the option to preview a shared document in iOS or Android, and more. Compatibility with Microsoft Office apps is also better now. In all three of the apps, a Force click on an image will allow them to be edited, and this Force gesture has built-in haptic feedback.
Getting your Pages docs from here to there is even easier now. Applications don’t need to be explicitly updated to support the new feature, but developers can update apps to make better use of the varying amounts of screen space. Numbers also gets 3D Touch, Split View, Picture in Picture and Slide Over. It lets you work on two documents side-by-side, splitting the screen evenly by default.
For the iPad, Apple clearly has productivity in mind for Pages.
Updated file format – If you’ve tried to send a.pages or.key file to someone via Gmail or Dropbox, you know what a disaster that can be.
Apple’s line of iWork apps are free to users who have recently purchased a new Mac or iOS device.
The updates didn’t come quite as quickly as expected, but now that they’re here they include welcome improvements to go along with iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan support.
