Apple updates Pages with 3D Touch for iOS, Split View for Mac
Apple finally updated its iWork productivity apps to take advantage of the latest versions of iOS and OS X this week.
As promised during Apple’s September event, updates for iOS and OS X El Capitan have been made available for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, including the much-hyped split-screen function, with a few extra support for the new 3D Touch feature.
Other notable tweaks and improvements in Apple’s refreshed iWork apps include VoiceOver support for navigating Pages, Keynote and Numbers for iOS and OS X by talking to your device; Handoff support for switching between iOS and OS X when working on an iWork document; and improved compatibility with Microsoft’s Office applications.
3D Touch controls – You’ll be able to peek and pop all over the place in the new updated apps on your iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, as Apple added support for pressure-sensitive 3D controls for the mobile versions of iWork.
Getting your Pages docs from here to there is even easier now. On the iPad, the three apps have also gained new Multi-Touch gestures for selecting text, a new Shortcut Bar that provides quick access to formatting tools, and new keyboard shortcuts when connected to a wireless keyboard. In the applications, El Capitan users can use the Force Touch trackpad to get haptic feedback, use Split View, and more. There’s also a new way to share password-protected documents directly with an iCloud link.
A bunch of changes apply to both iOS and OS X El Capitan users. A full list of the improvements can be found on Apple’s dedicated Pages, Numbers, and Keynote website.
