Apple ups App Store prices in seven more regions around the world
The collapse in the value of the rand against major currencies in the past couple of months has prompted Apple to increase prices in the App Store.
Countries affected are South Africa, Canada, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia and Singapore. Subscribers in Russian Federation and South Africa will need to resubscribe at the new price.
Shortly before their existing subscription renews, subscribers in these territories will receive an email from us to let them know about the price increase with the option to turn off their subscription.
In an online document detailing the upcoming price changes, Apple stated that paid apps in its App Store will cost at least S$1.48.
Apple will be hiking app prices in Singapore and six other countries in the next 72 hours. Israel will not be impacted, as auto-renewable In-App Purchase subscriptions are not supported there.
Specific changes to in-store were not detailed, though the document notes that there will now be two low-price tiers available to developers applicable to the Canadian App Store.
The tech giant is making adjustments to their App Store pricing in those seven regions to account for some volatile shifts in exchange rates.
