Apple Watch 2 in March is highly unlikely
A new report claims that Apple might not be unveiling the second-generation Watch in March as originally rumored by some credible sources. TechCrunch, however, argues that what we might see won’t be Apple Watch 2.0 but a far simpler refresh of Apple’s first ever smartwatch.
We’ve got some bad news in case you were hoping that the 2016 model-year Apple Watch, informally known as the Apple Watch 2, would arrive this spring. If the company does conduct an event in March it might announce new accessories and design partnerships for the Apple Watch. However, Panzarino says that the second-generation Apple Watch will be announced alongside the iPhone 7 in September, which would put the Apple Watch in a 18-month refresh cycle.
Ben Bajarin, a Creative Strategies analyst, said that there is now no production of the new Apple Watch 2. However, Apple fanatics are pretty much intrigued of the new Apple Watch 2. While many probably want to see an earlier debut, according to supply chain observers, there hasn’t been any movement in that area. What I have heard, though, is that Apple Watch had a big holiday quarter, which is backed up by research from Juniper that indicates over 50 percent of the smartwatch market belonged to Apple this season.
A customer inspects an Apple Watch at the Apple Store on June 17, 2015 in San Francisco, California. The company does not break out Apple Watch sales, however. It is likely that most who have already bought the watch will hold off on buying any more from the lineup for a few years and then replace their device. Though the hardware shipped later, the gap between introductions seems like it could be a better bit of breathing room between major versions. Because of this, it is possible that Apple is also taking the time to look for other suppliers when it comes to the said watch.
However, there’s a possibility that an updated version of the Watch will still be debuting in March, but it won’t be a “full Watch 2.0”.
