Apple Watch launching at Best Buy on August 7
Apple Watch will be soon available at Best Buy, the first retailer in the United States to features Apple’s iconic smartwatch.
Best Buy says it will update its website in the coming days with more details regarding Apple Watch, including which stores will offer the device on August 7th.
Apple started selling Apple Watch on its online store and the first orders started shipping in April 2015.
“The Apple Watch is an important addition to an emerging product category, and we know our customers want it”, Jason Bonfig, Best Buy’s senior category officer, said in the statement.
Following the path of most other Apple products, the Apple Watch will now be sold in Best Buy stores across the U.S. It’s unlikely that Best Buy’s Apple Watch buying experience will be quite the same as an Apple Store’s, but expanded availability will still let more folks actually see a watch in person before plunking down hundreds of dollars for a unit. Analyst firms provided an array of predictions for that number – Strategy Analytics, for one, estimated that Apple shipped four million watches in Q2 – but it’s largely agreed that, regardless of the exact figure, the Apple Watch was the most popular wearable device during its first quarter of business.
Apple surely will benefit from the reach Best Buy has for additional consumers.
Best Buy has not identified the locations where Apple Watch will be available initially.
When it comes to selection, Best Buy will offer both the Apple Watch Sport and the stainless steel Apple Watch models in both 38mm and 42mm sizes. Apple CEO Tim Cook stated on the company earnings call that he would not disclose sales figures, so that it would not give their competitors any insights.
