Apple Watch to hit Indian store shelves on 6 November
The Apple Watch got a lot more useful with WatchOS 2.0, an update that let developers write apps that can run natively on the Watch without the need for your iPhone.
Apple is slowly rolling out the Apple Watch worldwide, and the next place to receive it is set to be India – a largely-untapped market which ranks among the biggest in the world. In an exclusive report IndiaToday.in had reported that the launch of the product was delayed due to the lack of interest from Apple’s partners in India as they weren’t convinced about the viability of the category and were unwilling to hold inventory for the product. Alternatively, those in the Android realm can already use Runkeeper with Android Wear, and there is already at least one timepiece with Global Positioning System built in.
Runkeeper has announced an all-new Apple Watch app that can be used without the phone and still track the user’s various fitness activities. Based on its pricing in the U.S. which start from $349 for the basic version, the smart phone is speculated to cost between 24,999 and 30,000 INR for the basic version. The cheapest one is Watch Sport. The steps for the Apple Pay Watch setup process are described in detail below and, once you go through the entire procedure, you will be able to pay for anything you buy at any Apple Pay participating store using your Apple Watch.
Nearly 6 months of becoming available globally, Apple Watch is finally coming to India. Fortune compiled estimates on Apple Watch sales from 17 analysts, to find that the predictions range between 2.5m to 6m.
Apple Watch is capable of sending and receiving messages, answering calls to your iPhone, and with Digital Touch, sending something as personal as your own heartbeat.
A step up from that is the stainless steel Apple Watch, which comes with a chrome-finished stainless steel body and is priced at $549 for the smaller model and $599 for the larger version.
Apple, however, does not allow third-party watch faces in its App Store. And because I’d be remiss not to tell the other side of this story, I also wrote a companion post, “4 Things Apple Watch does that Huawei Watch can’t”.
