Apple will open Europe’s first iOS App Development Center in Italy
The iOS App Development Center will support teachers and provide a specialized curriculum preparing future developers for work in the field. In addition to this, Apple will be working with partners throughout Italy who give developer training that complements the curriculum, thus creating extra opportunities for the students.
The iOS app economy has helped add 1.2 million jobs to Europe, including app creators, software engineers and entrepreneurs building iOS apps, according to research by the Progressive Policy Institute. Apple claims to employ 1.4 million people throughout the E.U. The sale of iOS apps in the continent had developers receive over $11 million.
Some of the biggest apps in recent years have come out of Europe, and the United Kingdom – keyboard app SwiftKey is based in Southwark, while Monument Valley, one of the most successful iOS games of the past two years is made by UK-based studio ustwo.
“Forty-thousand apps are released each month, and there are an increasing number of people getting involved in development”.
The App job market is in a continuous expansion and Apple own 75% out of it. Meanwhile, Musement, which was opened in 2013, is now available in seven languages in 300 cities across 50 countries.
The company also has plans to expand these development centers across Europe – though it did not reveal locations or a specific timeline – and called itself a “powerful engine of growth” across Europe. The company also announced that the highest amount of activity was recorded on New Year’s day, when approximately $144 million was spent on app purchases in roughly 24 hours. Dr. Mandel notes the fact that in January 2016, there are an estimate of 75 percent App workers in Europe that work in the iOS system. Apple’s 100,000 employees are dedicated to making the best products on earth, and to leaving the world better than we found it.
