Apple will reveal a 4K 21.5-inch iMac next week
The company has yet to officially announce plans for a 4K version of its smaller all-in-one, but code discovered in OS X 10.11 El Capitan referred to an unknown iMac model with a 4,096-by-2,304-pixel display.
The key differentiating factors for the new iMacs are likely to be just the screen and graphic card.
Just like the 5K 27-inch iMac, the new 21.5-inch model will look unchanged. Apple has been steadily updating its devices to include high-resolution Retina displays, from the iPhone to MacBooks and iPads.
If you’re anxious to get your hands on a new iMac, they should be in store on October 13. According to 9to5 Mac, next week will bring us iMacs with 21.5-inch 4K displays. It was also said that there will be only a small number devices available this month, but starting November Apple will deliver larger quantities of the new iMac.
With about 218 pixels per inch, that’s a pixel density identical to Apple’s 27-inch iMac with 5K Retina display, which debuted last October.
The El Capitan Developer Preview that first hinted at a 21.5-inch iMac with 4K resolution also found a file suggesting a forthcoming Apple Bluetooth remote for Macs with Siri and Multi-Touch trackpad support. Next week, Apple is planning to launch a 21-inch iMac with 4K resolution. In terms of processors, there’s no word yet on whether Apple will be fitting it with Intel’s latest Skylake chipset. The current 21.5-inch model starts at $1,099.
Outside of the new desktop, the new Magic Mouse and Bluetooth keyboard Apple’s been working on could also launch next week, but this has yet to be confirmed. There are also rumors that new accessories will also become available at the same time the new 21.5- inch iMac will launch. And due to new Retina displays, it will cost higher than current iMac models.
