Arab FMs condemn Iran’s meddling in Saudi
Al-Jubeir spoke at an emergency meeting of Arab League foreign ministers where they issued a joint statement condemning the attack on the Saudi diplomatic offices in Iran and Iranian meddling in Arab affairs. At home, state executioners sever heads with swords, as in the recent execution of 47 prisoners in one day, including Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, a respected religious scholar who devoted his life to promoting nonviolence and civil rights.
The diplomatic dispute has raised concern that efforts to resolve a range of conflicts, including those in Yemen and Syria – where Saudi Arabia and Iran support opposing sides – could be derailed.
Putin underscored that Russian Federation is ready, if necessary, to take part in the resolution of the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Most League members voted in favour of the statement. The execution triggered protests and an arson attack at the Saudi Arabian embassy in Tehran.
The meeting was held in Riyadh under the chairmanship of Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir.
The row erupted following Saudi Arabia’s execution on Jan 2 of a prominent Shia cleric, Nimr al-Nimr, along with 46 others on terrorism charges.
He also said that Russian Federation regrets execution of Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr in Saudi Arabia, but considers an attack on the Saudi embassy in Tehran absolutely unacceptable.
But after the talks in Tehran, and with Saudi officials in the last week, de Mistura said both countries had vowed to continue to support peace efforts.
Foreign Ministry spokesman underlined that the project is separate from nuclear deal and will follow a separate way in the framework of defense strategies of a country.
The two leaders agreed to further strengthen the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and deepen the cooperation in various fields, including defence security, fight against terrorism, trade and investment and manpower requirements of the Kingdom.
Iran’s judiciary chief slammed Saudi Arabi on Monday for its hostile policies towards Tehran claiming that Saudi policies are serving the interests of the United States and Israel by harming the Muslim world, according to a report by Fars News. They were also sent to Syria. As far as I know, the Iranian authorities have arrested several perpetrators of the assault.
