Architect working on NYC skyscraper roof fell to his death
NY police are investigating the death of an architect who fell from a high-rise in Midtown Manhattan.
Authorities are investigating Bruno Travalja’s death on Thursday afternoon.
When Travalja – the owner of Crowne Architectural Systems – tried to step back with the other foot, “there was nothing there”.
Travalja was part of a construction crew working at the building taking measurements when he fell, police said. But his wife, Alexis Travalja, said the firm’s staff said he had misstepped and tripped.
“It’s more of an unfortunate tragic accident”, the official said.
She told the newspaper that her husband attended Pratt Institute, a private college known for its architecture program and that he had later worked on a building there.
Police responded to a 911 call about a man at who reportedly fell to his death from the top of 153 West 53rd St. on 6th Avenue, a police department spokesman said. It’s unclear what caused him to fall, but Travalja was pronounced dead at the scene. The city Department of Buildings and the NYPD are investigating, and all work has been stopped on the building.
