Archos Diamond S Android Smartphone Announced
French company Archos is once again unveiling new phones. Back in January and right before CES, ARCHOS announced a new addition to its Diamond line in the form of the ARCHOS 50 Diamond. Inside, the Diamond S comes loaded with 2GB RAM and powered by a MediaTek (MT6753) Octa-core processor (clocking at 1.5 GHz), along with a Mali T720 processing the graphics. It has all the makings of a smartphone you can get for your parent or recommend to your non-techie friends, thanks to acceptable internal storage (16GB) and RAM (2GB). The device also comes with 4G LTE and a dual SIM card slot.
In terms of pricing and availability, ARCHOS has confirmed that the Diamond S will be available to purchase in Europe starting from November and will cost only £159.99. It will come with 8GB of internal storage with microSD expansion of up to 32GB. These phones run Android 5.1 and Windows 10 Mobile, respectively, and they actually share the same spec list. Around front, you’ll find a 5-inch, 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution IPS display, with a 2-megapixel camera sitting above it. Turning the handsets over reveals an 8-megapixel camera, which isn’t the best, but should take adequate pictures. The Archos 50e Helium will be sold for the same price tag as the 50 Cesium, so if Windows 10 Mobile isn’t your cup of tea, at least you know you have an alternate option. The device will then be launched in November for the same price as the 50e Helium, Phone Arena reported.
The two upcoming Lumias, believed to be the Lumia 940 and the Lumia 940 XL, will be showcased together with the Surface Pro 4 and Band 2 during Microsoft’s press event to be held in October, multiple reports have claimed.
