Are actors portraying Florida school shooting victims?
David Hogg, a senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, has been particularly vocal since 17 people were killed at his high school in Parkland, Fla.
The video shows a CBS news broadcast from summer 2017 of Hogg describing how a friend of his got into an argument with a lifeguard on the beach.
“People like Donald Trump Jr., the president’s least-favorite son, are perpetuating this kind of stuff”, Kimmel said in his opening monologue Tuesday.
“It’s annoying. I hate it”. “Sandy Hook is a synthetic completely fake with actors, in my view, manufactured”, he said on his radio show in January 2015.
Infowars alleged the pair were coached by CNN – the cable network regularly assailed by the American right for its supposed liberal bias – interpreting their ease in front of the camera as evidence they were in reality “crisis actors” working on behalf of the far left.
Jimmy Kimmel, host of “Live”, was one of the many late-night hosts who bashed Trump Jr. for endorsing the post.
He followed that with a photo of students reacting to the decision.
He was quickly backed up by fellow students. Several suggested that the students were “crisis actors”, that they were part of an Federal Bureau of Investigation plot and more.
“This video should never have appeared in Trending”, a YouTube spokesperson told Fox News.
Benjamin Kelly, an aide to state Rep. Shawn Harrison, R-Tampa, reportedly sent an email to the Tampa Bay Times’ Washington Bureau Chief Alex Leary about the appearance of two Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students, Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg, on CNN.
They typically start on the fringes of social media, where internet users allege the events are carefully staged in order to achieve some sort of political goal. “/ NSA Has Proof”, and “After Blaming Trump, School Shooting Survivor David Hogg’s Dirty Secret Was Just Exposed”.
Online talk of a “false flag” attack – essentially a fake in which the real culprit is trying to frame somebody else – started soon after the Parkland survivors started speaking on television and social media about the horror of the shooting and demanding government action to prevent yet another one. One conspiracy used an interview he gave on an unrelated story while visiting California past year as evidence he was a paid actor.
Hogg (above with his mother and former Federal Bureau of Investigation agent father Kevin and his sister) moved to Florida in 2014 with his family.
But online memes and videos have unfairly claimed that the students are “actors” employed by anti-gun groups who speak out at mass shootings.
“You just gotta realize there are people who are here to help us”, Kasky said. “Its hard to know what is causing it. Because the video contained footage from an authoritative news source, our system misclassified it”, a spokeswoman for Google’s YouTube said, according to Bloomberg. On Wednesday, YouTube had replaced one link to a video about Hogg as an actor with a notice saying it violated the site’s policy on harassment and bullying, but other videos remained.
