Are Live-Action Star Wars Series Headed To Netflix?
Looking to follow Marvel’s template with the TV provider, Disney would look to preload at least three separate Star Wars series into one deal.
Take this one with a far galaxy of salt, as it’s hard to pin down the veracity of any of Cinelinx’s Star Wars suggestions in recent months, though the latest is at least worth considering. The report did “guess”, though, that the shows may debut in 2017, which would coincide with the release of Star Wars: Episode VIII on May 26, 2017. Still, with Disney and Netflix’s aggressive Marvel partnership, which includes four independent shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist) that will converge in a team-up series (The Defenders), it would make a lot of sense to see the streaming service house a Star Wars TV universe as well.
After the success of Marvel shows on Netflix, a “Star Wars” live action series is reportedly on its way to the streaming service. This, of course, would place the first TV release in 2016, after The Force Awakens formally kicks off the Disney era of the Star Wars movie franchise. We’ve assembled 31 questions from the new Disney canon and the old Legends continuity.
As with the original suggestion, said TV series could potentially shoot at the same United Kingdom Pinewood studios of the films, lowering costs by reusing certain sets, and keeping the majority of production in-house between cinematic chapters. Are there any stories or characters you think would be served best by a weekly TV series, instead of movies? But as developments continue in the world of Star Wars, stay tuned for further updates.
