Area stores extending their shopping hours

Just in case you have to make a last minute trip to the grocery or drug store on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, here are the hours for our local stores.

If you’re sticking around the neighborhood, note that Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, is not an official city holiday, so all city government offices, including courts, are open.

“In keeping with previous years, the busiest day for Christmas shopping this year will be two days before Christmas where we are likely to see £1.3 billion spent on the high street”. Many big retailers are keeping later hours today, versus years past.

Shoppers will be able to snap up millions of pounds of savings as it unveils its biggest ever Boxing Day Deals Week sale, running from 4pm on Christmas Eve until 11.59pm on 31st December 2015.

The rest of my retail Christmas years was split between three locations of an upscale organizational store. Most are open boxing day, although hours vary from shopping centre to shopping centre.

No green bin, recycling and garbage pick-up on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. On the next day, they will welcome buyers at 7 a.m and their closing hours differs depending on the location.

All four Wal-Mart stores in the city: London North, Argyle, Northland and White Oaks, are open until 6:00 p.m. Wal-Mart locations in Strathroy, Woodstock and St. Thomas are also open until 6:00 p.m.

On New Year’s Eve, most stores will open 8am – 6pm, but will be closed on New Year’s Day. Sears is one of the stores staying open late on Christmas Eve, but it will be closed all day on December 25. Select CVS pharmacies will be open on Christmas Day from 10 am – 6 pm.

Recreation facilities, swimming, skating and fitness classes will operate on modified schedules during the holiday season.

Macy’s has some extended hours in the days leading up to December 25, but they chose to remain closed for the Christmas holiday. Meanwhile, Bealls Outlet and Walmart are both open until 8 p.m. and Kmart is serving customers until 10 p.m.

There are already seasonal offers but you can expect more deals on Boxing Day.
