The 85 World War II and Korean War veterans from the Fox Valley area, who have been on a waiting list, were notified they were traveling on the October 21 flight before the announcement of the Packer players.
This honor flight headed for Washington, D.C., taking 61 veterans to the World War II memorial, including three female veterans and a big contingent from Havenwood-Heritage Heights in Concord.
The Honor Flight will return September 28 between 9:45 and 10:15 pm. Smith says Saturday’s Honor Flight will be a time for him to reflect back on the war and remember friends that he lost.
