Aretha Franklin launching dessert line

After Patti LaBelle achieved runaway success with her line of sweet potato pies at Walmart, Aretha Franklin says she’s working on her own line of food products.

“One of them is my Chili… the other is my gumbo… my baked chicken and dressing which will be in a loaf pan”, the singer said.

Franklin’s forthcoming food venture will add to the pair’s alleged rivalry, which made headlines in 2014 following a rumored fist fight between the two in Atlanta. It is not yet known when it will hit shelves. The Grammy-winning singer and cookbook author sold $1 million of her $3.98 pies after fan James Wright Chanel sang the praises of her dessert in a viral YouTube Video that received 4.5 million views in November.

Franklin, who has been a diabetic for many years, plans to offer reasonably healthy meals.

No word on when Franklin’s foods will hit the market, but we’ll be sure to do a taste test as soon as they hit the market. The music icon was asked by a correspondent during this latest interview if she had ever tried LaBelle’s sweet potato pie.
