Ariz. DOC emails found in Ashley Madison hack
Hackers have released more confidential material from the cheating website Ashley Madison.
Capt. Rita Reith with the Indianapolis Fire Department told WTHR that IFD is looking into whether or not any of its addresses were used on the list. They followed up with another search of their server and found nothing.
A couple of years ago, I went under cover (so to speak) on Ashley Madison and had a look around using a fake name and photo.
Cities across the USA are investigating, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and others in Ohio.
“The unauthorised material published this month appears to have been enabled by individuals associating defence email addresses with private online activity, and providing personally identifiable information”, he said in a joint statement with Department of Defence secretary, Dennis Richardson.
A list of email domains from the Ashley Madison website, known for promoting extra-marital affairs, has ties to Central Ohio.
Von Wolffradt said they would forward the information to human resources professionals to check into the situation.
Millions of users worldwide registered with the site and some of their email addresses have been linked to military, police and government employees.
A State of Michigan employee acceptable use policy states that “IT Resources, including devices, networks, data, software, email and system accounts, are used to conduct official State business”.
“Some people might just be scared and not want to touch it, on the other hand, people might want to check it, they might have established relationships”.
It has a site where customers enter an email to see if it was part of the Ashley Madison hack, so if you are a suspicious spouse or an Ashley Madison customer, it can be checked.
Toronto-based Avid Life Media, the parent company of Ashley Madison, says the company doesn’t store full credit-card data from members. People give up more information than necessary and businesses don’t take appropriate measures to protect client’s information. “Embarrassing now, but you’ll get over it”.
