Even with all that history against the Buffalos heading into Saturday night’s game on FS1, MacIntyre made a bold prediction at the school’s homecoming parade Friday night. Colorado, meanwhile, is searching for the momentum ithad built with a 3-1 start, but the Buffs have opened Pac-12 play with lossesto Oregon (41-24) and Arizona State (48-23).

Arizona recovered the ensuing on-side kick but punted back, giving Colorado the ball on its 6-yard line with 38 seconds left. But ultimately, this may not be a good look for MacIntyre and the program he’s trying to rebuild. The Wildcats then bounced back with a win over Oregon State by a 44-7 final score to improve their record to 4-2 for the season. Fields had five catches for 129 yards in the quarter.

Anu Solomon threw for 206 yards on 15-25 passing attempts and one touchdown. Arizona had a 44-yard pass completion on its second play of the game and would have had a touchdown on the next play if wide receiver Samajie Grant hadn’t dropped a pass in the end zone.

So, with Anu Solomon struggling to get Arizona in a groove, head coach Rich Rodriguez went to backup Jerrard Randall, and the decision kept Arizona on the periphery of the Pac-12 South race. “We haven’t done that in a Pac-12 game yet, and it’s time to do it. Those kids will be ready to do it; I can’t wait to get in there and get them going”. Arizona settled for a field goal on that drive but needed only two plays on its next possession, scoring on a 79-yard touchdown run when Baker, who ran for 207 yards, raced untouched through the center of a CU defense missing its top three inside linebackers because of injuries.

That Arizona score was posted just over the halfway mark of the first quarter – and it would be the Wildcats’ last of the first half. Phillips also caught four for 89 yards.

Colorado took a 24-17 lead in the third quarter following a 2-yard touchdown run from Sefo Liufau, made possible by a 47-yard Liufau completion to Sean Irwin on the previous play.
