Arizona Cardinals vs. Seattle Seahawks

As to who they’re playing, or where they’re playing, or when they’re playing, those variables are still up in the air as we enter Week 17. It would mean a No. 3 seed for the Packers, and a home game on wild-card weekend. Perhaps it was an ugly loss to St. Louis the week before. But it certainly posed some questions about Seattle coming to the end of the season.

Seattle will play at either Washington or Minnesota in the wild card round next weekend, depending on the outcome of Sunday night’s game between the Vikings and Green Bay. Today’s game has a scheduled start time of 4.25 p.m. ET and takes place from the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.

With teams like the Seahawks, Panthers, Minnesota Vikings and others in the playoffs capable of both running the ball and stopping the run, this could be a major problem for Arizona.

Essentially, this was the first “DVOA Championship Game” in the history of the stat, which dates back to 1989; it’s safe to say Seattle is now the first team to ever finish with four straight DVOA titles. His previous career-high was an 84-yard game against the Browns on December 20.

In maybe the only negative of the day, Steven Hauschka missed a point-after attempt and field-goal attempt. The Cards’ next possession went into the 2nd Quarter. In their first game, these two backs combined for 127 yards, including 84 yards by Michael.

Lockett also captured the Seattle record for most all-purpose yards for a rookie (1,913) – also by halftime. The drive ended almost effortlessly with a toss to Will Tukuafu for a touchdown. His touchdown pass to Coffman gave him 33 for the season, eclipsing Dave Krieg’s single-season franchise record, and Wilson finished with 34. Perhaps it was a painful loss to Arizona on November 15.

“He’s really tried to get back as soon as possible”, Carroll said. The first game between the two teams this season was back in Week 10 at CenturyLink Field. Lockett set a franchise mark with 139 yards in punt returns. Arizona has a 13-2 record for the year as it looks to lock down postseason seeding. There’s two weeks to talk about the next game. Seattle is 6-2 in that stretch.

Seattle’s first punt came with 12 seconds left in the third quarter. Jeremy Lane got one from Carson Palmer and Earl Thomas lll got one from Drew Stanton. In that scenario, Seattle would be the No. 5 seed and play the Washington Redskins in a first-round game. Wilson sat out the fourth quarter.

In a game that meant next to nothing for the Seahawks on Sunday, they derailed the hottest team in the NFC with a 36-6 thrashing of the Arizona Cardinals, avoiding a sweep by the Cardinals and handing Arizona its first loss in 10 games.
