Arizona Coyotes vs. Edmonton Oilers – 11/12/15 National Hockey League Pick, Odds, and Prediction
After spotting an opponent the lead for the fourth straight game, Arizona stormed back with four unanswered goals to defeat the Oilers for the sixth straight time 4-1.
“It hasn’t always been easy coming back from deficits the past few years, so it’s nice to see that we can do it”, Smith said. “It shows a lot about our group”.
Edmonton played the night before, but had the early jump on Arizona, scoring in the opening 3 minutes. Leon Draisaitl recorded a goal and two assists and now has ten points in six games.
“I didn’t realize it had been that long”, Coyotes captain Shane Doan said.
The Coyotes’ third consecutive win left them at 9-6-1 and momentarily in first place in the Pacific Division, at least until the Los Angeles Kings (10-6-0) defeated the NY Islanders later in the night.
Arizona Coyotes’ Stefan Elliott (45) flips the puck past Edmonton Oilers’ Anders Nilsson (39), of Sweden, for a goal as Oilers’ Mark Fayne (5) and Luke Gazdic (20) defend during the second period of an NHL hockey game Thursday, November 12, 2015, in Glendale, Ariz. Grossmann is considered day-to-day and could return for the team’s four-game trip that begins Saturday in Columbus…. It was Domi’s eight goal of the season, most among all rookies, and upped his point total to 15.
It really makes you wonder that if Martin Hanzal had been healthy last season what he could have accomplished for the Arizona Coyotes. The results have been very promising, and Hanzal does much of the dirty work in the corners, and along the boards to dig out pucks and get them to his “Killer D’s”, as they have been coined by Coyotes play-by-play announcer Matt McConnell. Edmonton went just 0-4-1 against Arizona in 2014/15.
After that, the Oilers went flat.
“I didn’t think we were sharp”.
Head Coach Todd McLellan says playing back to back games is no excuse. “I know it’s back-to-back, but we can’t have that excuse”. Assists to Scott and Kyle Chipchura at 17:29.
Domi scored when he swiped a loose puck in front of Nilsson just ahead of Richardson next to him to finish off the Oilers.
“I think he did it maybe half the games, maybe a third”, Doan said in deference to Hawerchuk, a boyhood idol. “I’m a big fan and I think he’s a special guy that didn’t ever get the recognition he deserved”. The veteran, who passed Paul Coffey (1,409) on the league’s all-time games-played list, was the beneficiary of a slick pass from rookie Max Domi that he tapped in at 13:47.
