Arizona LB Wright out with sprained foot
Wright returned for Saturday’s game against UCLA after being sidelined for three weeks following arthroscopic knee surgery to fix an injury suffered in the September 3 opener against Texas-San Antonio. Well, it looks like after that one-game appearance, it will be right back to the rehab table for the best defensive player in the country from last season.
This time the injury bug has bitten for the second time, as Arizona All-American linebacker Scooby Wright will miss “several weeks” with another lower-body injury. Rodriguez said Wright’s injured left knee was fine after the game, but Wright needed an MRI on his right foot after landing awkwardly during the game. He returned to the field Saturday against UCLA but was mostly ineffective.
But, Rodriguez knows that this team has to move along regardless.
At his weekly news conference, Rich Rodriguez said that “several weeks” was actually good news considering the initial diagnosis.
We can only hope that he makes a full recovery and that he can finish out this season as strongly as possible.
Quarterback Anu Solomon suffered a concussion against UCLA and is day-to-day, Rodriguez said; senior Jerrard Randall and redshirt freshman Brandon Dawkins will run the offense if he can not play.
Scooby Wright tied for the team high with seven tackles against UCLA.
