Arkansas Musician, Friend Missing After Going Hunting On Kaw Lake
Strickland, 29, and Morland, 22, went missing on Saturday after embarking on a duck hunting trip, and sending out an ominous tweet about the severe weather the two were facing.
Searchers found the men’s capsized boat shortly after midnight last night, but not the two men, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Backroad Anthem member Craig Strickland was on a hunting trip with friend Chase Morland in north-central Oklahoma when the pair reportedly disappeared Sunday morning, according to the post on Facebook. Strickland, who is the vocalist for the Arkansas band Backroad Anthem, retweeted the message the same day.
Kay County sheriff’s office contacted the Oklahoma Highway Patrol at about 9 p.m. Sunday after they learned that two hunters went missing at Kaw Lake sometime over the weekend. The post details that they haven’t made any contact with family over the last 24 hours.
At their Facebook page, Backroad Anthem describe themselves as a six-piece country-rock band out of Fayetteville, Ark. that brings a list of original songs to their high-energy set every night. One read of his Twitter profile shows that he likes to joke he married “up”, and that’s because she’s a former Miss Arkansas USA.
“Everyone please say special prayers for the family of Chase Morland”. “We ask all of our customers to remember this family at this time”.
