Arkansas releases hype video for Mississippi State game
The university created a hype video leading up to Saturday’s Mississippi State game that’s sure to make you want to put on pads and take the field yourself.
Prescott told reporters this week that Mississippi State’s offensive line will “get after it” at Arkansas after what happened in the Alabama game.
MSU invested a lot of energy and emotion into its game against Alabama before falling 31-6 in Starkville. The Bulldogs outgained the Crimson Tide and still lost by 25 points. Arkansas should have no trouble slowing the Bulldog run game, including called runs from Dak Prescott. The Bulldogs felt the effects of the physical game, but it is November in the SEC. “Managing health and preparation are the two big things”.
The Bulldogs practiced Sunday, but had Monday off. Mullen said Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday’s practices will be cut back.
In last week’s matchup, Arkansas beat LSU 31-14.
The total has gone OVER in 6 of Arkansas’s last 8 games when playing Mississippi State.
“I don’t worry that much about the motivation because our guys love to play football, ” Mullen said.
The Razorbacks started the season 2-4 but have since reeled off four straight wins averaging 525.3 yards and 50.3 points in victories against Auburn, UT Martin, Ole Miss and LSU. “But the crowd will definitely be in our favor”, said Brandon Allen. Each get a TD, and Dak runs for two more. “But the more you watch them and the more you sort of unpack who they are, they’re a tremendously balanced offense”.
MSU’s defense has played well as of late, even in the loss to Alabama.
The biggest reason in my view that Arkansas has struggled so much against the pass is simply because they struggle to get pressure on the quarterback. Beating Arkansas in 2015 has been far more complicated than simply shutting down the running game. This is the fifth separate game this season Arkansas has ranked 1st in Passing S&P+. The Hogs jumped almost 30 spots after a five-sack performance against LSU.
“I don’t see them doing anything differently”, Mullen said. People are going to start telling them how good they are and what they are and all this, which is probably a bit of truth but a lot more just hype. Confidence goes a long way. Mississippi State allowed Prescott to be sacked nine times a week ago. Expect the Bulldogs to have a tough time running against the 20th-ranked Razorbacks run defense, which gives up 122.4 yards per game on the ground.
“We just had the mindset of its a six game season and forgot the first half of the season”, said Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen. “We talked about it before the Missouri game”.
Mullen acknowledged De’Runnya Wilson’s neck injury following the ball game by saying it wasn’t significant and that Wilson should be OK. The Gators won 38-7 that day.
“For the young guys, I don’t think they’ll notice any difference because they haven’t been to Arkansas, either Little Rock or Fayetteville, but for the older guys, I do think it will be a little different since they’re in a new stadium for the first time”, Mullen said.
