Armed robbery suspect tries using Uber as getaway vehicle, police say
An Uber driver unwittingly became a getaway driver Wednesday after an armed robbery in Parkville, Baltimore County police said.
Both the driver and the other passenger said they had nothing to do with the robbery and they were both released. The logistical nightmare that is using Uber as your getaway vehicle is just not worth the trouble.
Authorities say Cochran feigned purchasing a few Tylenol before whipping out a pistol and stealing money from the register.
Fortunately, the mission failed and the police arrested the crook alongside an Uber driver and a second passenger.
The suspect fled from the store with an unknown amount of cash and then, with cops quickly on his tail, was spotted getting into a silver Lexus.
Uber drivers presumably pick up all kinds of passengers during a typical day, but an incident in Baltimore last week surely marks a first for the ride-hailing company.
Cochran was taken into custody, charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and theft less than $10,000, reports ABC. In case the auto was not stopped immediately, the plate number will give away the suspect’s route given that the vehicle is on Global Positioning System.
