Arnold Palmer will be honored during Ryder Cup

Americans followed his lead soon thereafter. Identified most strongly with the Masters, Palmer’s British Open victories are credited with reviving U.S. interest in the championship. But Palmer was also a person blessed with “charisma, charm and patience”. And it helped that he arrived about the same time as television moved into most households, a ideal fit that sent golf to unprecedented popularity.

Dukart said watching Palmer play was a part of why he was motivated to get into the sport. Maybe more than any 100.
