Arrest made in high school bomb threat investigation
The school received the threat around 12:30 p.m., Spokane Police spokesman Cpl. Parents were asked to not pick up their students at the time.
Police reported in a media release the school resource officer of the Winfield Police Department was contacted just after 6:45 pm on Wednesday after alleged bomb threat at the Winfield High School. Officers learned that North High had dismissed classes for the day shortly before 1 p.m., so they went to the suspect’s home on Anna and found him there.
Gilding declined to specify the nature of the threat called into the school.
Holland said the sheriff’s office takes these threats seriously, and students can and will face charges.
Students were sent to Edwidge Woldson Park at 7th and Stevens.
Police say a student who was originally threatened had an argument with the suspect. Officers, aided by school district officials, conducted a search of the school but did not find any device or other reason for concern.
