Arrest Made In Hockessin Murder
The car was in the parking lot of the Franciscan Care Center nursing home across the street from his family’s sprawling home in the 100 block of St. Claire Drive in the Reserve at Hockessin Chase. 25-year-old Benjamin Rauf of Westerlo, New York has been charged with murder in the first degree and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
Police said he died from gunshot wounds sustained to his upper torso. Authorities believe that Rauf intended to rob Uppal of his stash. Police were called to the parking lot when witnesses say Uppal’s car was parked there an ‘unusually long time’.
Rauf has a prior marijuana-related arrest on his record, and the crime allegedly took place while he was still in law school. Police say the victim and suspect knew each other from Temple University, where they attended law school. Raul awaits extradition in New York.
An arrest is expected in the shooting death of a Hockessin man that happened late last month.
