Arrest warrant issued for Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon in paternity case
The Browns wide receiver reportedly appeared in Cuyahoga County juvenile court on Wednesday in an effort to resolve the issue.
The Browns, the NFL, Addidas and powerful sports agent Drew Rosenhaus, who represents Gordon, were also issued subpoenas in the case.
A warrant is out for the arrest of Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon after he failed to submit a paternity test.
Gordon was ordered to provide a DNA sample last September to determine whether he is the father of a now 1-year-old girl. The warrant was issued by a judge on August 31 after Gordon did not respond to subpoenas sent to several different addresses in Los Angeles and Cleveland, demanding that he take a DNA test. Gordon never responded to them, according to court records.
According to Lockhart’s complaint, she is seeking child support from Gordon and no one else besides Gordon is presumed to be the father.
Gordon is halfway through a four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. It remains to be seen if this case will impact his return to the gridiron next month.
“We are aware of the situation”, a Browns spokesman said, via Cleveland.com.
If he doesn’t, his whereabouts on October 9th, for a home game against the New England Patriots, should be known and allow for authorities to locate him.
The oft-banned Gordon hasn’t played in a game since December 2014. The team issued a statement acknowledging the warrant and saying that it would not comment any further on the matter.
