Arrests As Three Killed In Quad Bike Crash
Friends and family have remembered four young people who were killed when a quad bike collided with a sports vehicle as “beautiful angels” who were “taken too soon”.
Police confirmed all four – two men aged 20, a woman aged 18 and a teenage girl aged 16 – had been on the quad bike.
Three died at the scene while one of the men died in hospital from his injuries.
Two men who were in the Nissan were arrested on suspicion of unsafe driving.
Mr Steven Beal said he did not know why his brother had chose to take his quad bike onto the road.
“He was a caring dad”. Absolutely wounded, my heart’s actually melting.
Mr Beal, who according to his Facebook profile was a fitter for windows firm Safestyle United Kingdom and had gone to Minsthorpe Community College, posted a photograph of a green Yamaha quad bike to the social media page earlier this month.
‘He was into all sorts from fishing, to going out with the dog, but his baby, Ruby, was his pride and joy he loved her to bits. And on her 16th birthday.
Jeorgia Lynch added: ‘Can’t believe it, doesn’t seem true. Fly high, don’t party too hard up there, attractive angels.
The two men and the 18-year-old woman have been named in reports as Ryan Beal, Brandon Brown and Alexandra Binns.
He added: ‘They had known each other since they were at school and were really good mates’.
Police arrived on the scene just after 12.30am this morning – two men have since be arrested.
Det Chief Insp Richard Holmes, from West Yorkshire’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, who is leading the enquiry, said: “Clearly this has been a very serious and tragic incident with multiple casualties and enquiries are expected to be ongoing on that part of the A6201 for the majority of the day”.
‘Painstaking investigative work is continuing at the scene and the road itself will not be re-opened until tomorrow.
Police said the victims’ families were being supported by specially trained officers.
He added: “We continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision and would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen a unregistered quad bike driven on the roads around the Hemsworth area in the evening of 26th September 2015 and up to 12.30am on 27 September 2015”.
