Arsène Wenger ready for duel with José Mourinho after shortest of summers
“For me, six, seven, eight or nine matches without losing makes (no) difference and I don’t think affects this game”.
However, Mourinho refused to be drawn on his head-to-head stats with Wenger and said: “I just want my teams, my clubs to try to get the best possible results”.
“I don’t think about what happened before, I just think about the game”, Mourinho said.
The Gunners face Chelsea on Sunday at Wembley in the season’s traditional curtain-raiser, the Community Shield.
The Belgium worldwide won the PFA Player of the Year award last term and Mourinho recently claimed that the 24-year-old had enjoyed a better season than Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 48 league goals.
Asked about facing Cech, Mourinho said: “I did it already”.
“It is a derby and it is for a trophy and we want to win”, said Zouma. Arsenal might not have bought any new players but it’s midfield and attack has been much better.
First of all Arsenal fans, I would like to take this opportunity to once again get stuck into Jose Mourinho, as I think that no chance to do this should ever be passed up. Mourinho’s perception is that the press are actually in love with Arsenal’s manager.
While Arsenal have rediscovered their taste for silverware, winning back-to-back FA Cups, the title has not been returned to North London for 12 years.
‘How many times have I done that?
Mourinho and Wenger have clashed verbally on numerous occasions and the Frenchman even pushed his nemesis on the touchline last season. Which means strong. A very good team.
“We want to win it but overall I think we can just give that little bit more confidence before we go into the season if we do well”. Wenger has balance throughout his side and depth as well with players capable of cover all through the side, the biggest addition though in the offseason was the capture of Petr Cech from ironically Chelsea, the Czech worldwide is worth at least 10 points to Arsenal as he is among the top five goalkeepers in the world and at 33 is only coming into his prime as a goalkeeper. “The Gunners will be smiling at the end of the season, I’m sure of it”.
“The guy who brought him to Chelsea is a good friend of mine, and he told me he was an exceptional keeper at Rennes, before he went to Chelsea”. So I don’t see why Petr should not have a few years with us. He has a good combination between quality, agility and size and he always looked like he was built for English football.
“In goal, he makes the goal look smaller, and that’s the kind of charisma he has”.
“He is very serious, he trains well”.
