Arsenal back on top in Premier League
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reserved praise for the “outstanding” Aaron Ramsey following the 2-0 victory over Aston Villa. We want to beat City at home.
The French striker also scored the opening goal against Aston Villa in their weekend English Premier League encounter which saw them defeat Aston Villa in the match. “We spent a lot of energy away in the Champions League on Wednesday, but found the resources to win again here today (Sunday), in another away match. I knew Villa were fighting to survive”.
At 29, Giroud is only the seventh Arsenal player to reach 50 goals in the Premier League, joining Thierry Henry, Ian Wright, Robin van Persie, Dennis Bergkamp, Robert Pires and Theo Walcott in an illustrious club.
Giroud, whose hat-trick secured a vital Champions League win over Olympiacos in midweek, continued his fine form by sending Brad Guzan the wrong way with the penalty in just the 8th minute.
“I think the three points were very important, more than the way we played”, said Pellegrini.
“He has improved technically, his link play is better and when we have the option to go for long balls he is always a very interesting option”. He says when you get the ball be positive and attack players.
Villa manager Remi Garde had been hoping to get one over his former mentor Wenger, who signed him as a player at Arsenal, but his team remains eight points adrift of safety at the foot of the table. “Mentally he is very strong”. “I know that in football you can change things with work and concentration”.
“We are coming to a period over the next two or three weeks when we face games which will be must-win for us in our situation”, Garde admitted.
Arsenal’s traditional problem is that at least one rival lasts the course while they falter, but both Manchester teams lack consistency, and Chelsea can surely now be safely discounted.
The Wales midfielder, who scored his side’s second, believes they can continue winning and get their hands on the trophy come the end of the season. “I think most Arsenal fans would have wanted to avoid them but it’s up to us to put on a performance”.
“I wanted to have certain answers and he (Randy Lerner) told me that in the case of relegation the project was still on, and that he counted on me to lead it. So I am working also in the medium term.”
“We created chances, made a ideal goal, then conceded those two”, said Klopp.
“There is no doubt in my mind that the Wales global features far more in Arsenal’s build-up play when they are not around”.
It is therefore, Arsenal’s best chance to win their first league title since 2004. Ramsey broke the seasonal Premier League record for covering the biggest distance over 90 minutes – 12.37km – and the nature of his 38th minute goal typified the Welshman’s game-breaking abilities as a box-to-box player.
