Arsenal fans after Barcelona draw and Jose Aldo’s cornerman after Conor
Conor McGregor is never going to stop talking now. He’s powerful and fast but precision beats power and timing beats speed.
Aldo (25-2) actually finished his punch and hit McGregor with a left, but the champ fell senseless to the ground and McGregor pounced, only to be pulled off in victory.
In his in-ring interview with UFC commentator Joe Rogan, Aldo called for an immediate rematch.
“What I say happens, happens”, McGregor said. “Everyone doubted me. I came in and I said what I would do and I went and done it”.
“I’m his Kryptonite. I’m in the gym a lot. It’s been a insane, crazy year”. With dual-division dreams dancing in his head, McGregor is uncertain if or when he will see his Brazilian foil again.
Thank you to all the fans who travelled and made this week what it was!!
Former lightweight champion Edgar, after delivering his own first-round knockout Friday night in Las Vegas against Chad Mendes, said he’d mostly like to fight McGregor in NY.
Aldo can be one of the most unsafe fighters in the sport when coming forward, but a large amount of his striking success in the UFC has come via counterattacks.
And McGregor predicts next year will be even bigger.
In the post-fight press conference, McGregor was asked about his accurate prediction of how the fight would pan out. He helped to usher in the smaller weight classes into the UFC as the promotion’s inaugural 145-pound ruler. An angry Aldo seeking vengeance would be a very interesting prospect indeed. “If I go up to that lightweight division, there’s no way in hell that I’m vacating my belt”, he declared.
At the time Rousey got knocked out by Holly Holm in mid-November, there wasn’t another UFC fighter in the same conversation with her in terms of national popularity.
“If he comes up to lightweight, he’s going to get hurt”, Dos Anjos said.
What is more certain is that, when McGregor does make his next appearance in the octagon, he’ll do so as a much bigger star. Aldo’s UFC record now stands at 7-1 after Saturday’s loss. McGregor discussed a potential move up to lightweight (watch the video above) or a defense of his newly won crown against Frankie Edgar, which would seemingly leave Aldo out of the loop.
