Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere join AFC Bournemouth on loan
Wilshere made his Arsenal debut at the age of 16 and has shown electrifying form for both the Gunners and England at times, but injuries have hampered his career and he missed almost all of last season with a broken ankle.
Woods also reported that Wilshere was swayed into choosing Bournemouth due to his friendship with former Arsenal team-mate Benik Afobe, as well as his belief that he can reignite his career under Cherries manager Eddie Howe.
Arsenal FC midfielder Jack Wilshere has officially joined English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth on a season long loan.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger allowed the midfielder to go out on loan in order to get back to match fitness, with Bournemouth beating Roma, AC Milan and Crystal Palace to his signature.
Howe was coy about when Bournemouth fans would see Wilshere in action, but did reveal Wilshere’s best friend Benik Afobe did help sell the club to the England worldwide.
Bournemouth chief executive Neil Blake said: “Jack is a fantastic addition to the club”.
He said: “Last year was hard for me both on and off the field but the time I was injured helped me to step back and reflect”.
“I am obviously delighted that he chose us ahead of a number of other clubs and I think he will do really, really well for the team”.
Howe hopes the deal can benefit both parties and said Wilshere could be the missing piece of the jigsaw for his Bournemouth side.
Wilshere is confident the loan can help him rediscover his best form. “It’s a big thing for us”.
“We were contacted and asked, ‘would we be interested?’ We said yes and threw our hat in the ring but the player made a decision to go to Bournemouth, I think one of his best mates plays there”.
There’s much Bournemouth can offer the 24-yer-old if he stays fit-most importantly, the chance of playing regular Premier League football.
