Arsenal midfielder reveals reason for sealing Bournemouth loan move over Crystal Palace
The Daily Mail report that Wilshere has met with Cherries’ boss Eddie Howe, with the presence of former Arsenal striker Benik Afobe, Wilshere’s best friend and the godfather to one of his children, an appealing draw.
“The 24-year-old will bolster Eddie Howe’s options in midfield and bring worldwide experience, having been capped 34 times for England at senior level”.
In a post on his official Twitter account, Wilshere wrote: ” I’m delighted to have joined Bournemouth on a season long loan and would like to thank everyone at the club for making me feel so welcome.
New Bournemouth midfielder Jack Wilshere says he is happy with his decision of joining the club on loan from Arsenal until the end of the campaign.
Wilshere famously went on loan to Bolton back in 2010, where his displays established him as one of English football’s brightest prospects.
With the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla, Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin, and Mohamed Elneny all vying for a spot in the Arsenal midfield, it’s clear to see that Wilshere was not going to be a regular for Arsene Wenger.
“It’s a step into the unknown in the respect that I think Jack’s out there on his own in terms of profile and the kind of player we’re attracting”, Howe told Sky Sports television on Thursday.
The England midfielder was approached by a host of clubs hoping to secure his services on loan.
“This is a big one for us”, said Howe, who has 10 members of his senior party away on global duty.
Wenger has no plans to sell Wilshere, who came out of the club’s academy and has always been tipped as a future Gunners captain, but both sides realise that the player would benefit from a loan move, the source said.
Their sporting director Frank Baumann spoke on Tuesday of his confidence the winger’s arrival was imminent, and after the signing was confirmed said: “We are delighted that Serge has chose to sign for us, even though he had a number of different options”.
