Arsenal players too interested in selfies and six-packs – Roy Keane
“There’s too many Arsenal players interested in selfies and six-packs”, said Keane.
Keane won seven Premier League titles with United and he was known for his tough tackling approach and never say die attitude on the pitch.
The Gunners have not win the English Premier Leagu title since the 2003/2005 season and the former United midfielder believes that drought won’t end anytime soon.
“They’ve got really good players, it’s just that some of their players are more interested in selfies and six packs”.
“We’ve the same thing every year”, said Keane, when asked about Arsenal’s chances of winning their first league title for 12 years.
“Instead of focusing on winning Premier League titles, it’s all about how their bodies look, how their hair is, more so than winning football matches”. I think they’re after the boy [John] Stones too, and if they add him, if Chelsea players show the same hunger and desire they did last year, they’ll win the league.
However, in an interview quoted by The Sun, Roy Keane feels the North Londoners have an abundance of squad ability but not the right mentality to succeed, criticising their focus and eagerness to triumph.
“They’ve lots of good players”.
“United have gone away from what they were about – being a club whose squad seamlessly evolves from one season to the next”.
“For me, Chelsea remain the team to beat”, he declared. “I still think they need a centre-half”.
“United will be better and they will need to be stronger out of the blocks, but if I was a betting man I’d still go with Chelsea”, Keane said.
Keane also had harsh words for United rivals Manchester City, who he believes have bought badly in the last couple of years, suggesting new recruits Raheem Sterling and Fabian Delph will not improve them.
“There’s too many Arsenal players interested in selfies, I think, whatever they are”. “They appear to be a driven bunch and, if they can keep Diego Costa fit [and] keep their wits about them, then it’s hard to look elsewhere”.
