Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger ‘not aware’ of any bust-up involving Alexis Sanchez
Wenger, on Monday, came out and said that reports of the row were “completely false”, while Sanchez responded by posting an inspirational quote about teamwork. Are you ready to pay the price for that?
“I’ll wait a bit and see how the season finishes here”, he said in fluent German.
“Nothing happened, nothing at all”, Wenger told reporters at Arsenal’s London Colney base. “We have a game to face tomorrow which is really important to our team, and not to one individual player”.
Arsenal have failed to beat Liverpool at Anfield in their past three attempts, and they know they require all three points if they wish to keep their Premier League dream alive.
Germany’s Mesut Ozil and Chile’s Alexis Sanchez are apparently playing hardball with Gunners manager Arsene Wenger and delaying their decisions on respective new contract extension offers from Arsenal.
Wenger did hint at motives other than tactics when, asked if the Sanchez decision had been “made for the team”, he said: “I will explain that later one time”.
Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has said Alexis Sanchez can not force his way out of the club this summer.
Not that it took a wild leap of imagination to guess, but it has emerged Alexis Sanchez was dropped from Arsenal’s starting line-up for their match against Liverpool as punishment for storming out of a training session in midweek.
Wenger described his relationship with Sanchez as “honest and normal, like with every single player”.
“I’ll always love the guy because in brief personal exchanges he’s always been accommodating, warm and amusing, but football these days isn’t about sentiment, it’s about winning, and Arsene is no longer a victor”. But it’s very hard for him, it’s not easy.
“The board chooses the manager. Short-term happiness is easier to get that long-term happiness, so let’s just focus on short term”. “On the confidence front it can look like you don’t want to fight, but I believe 100 percent that these players want to win and do well”.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale were named yesterday in Real Madrid’s squad for the last-16 second-leg tie against Napoli after missing the weekend win over Eibar.
