Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom set to join Isaac Hayden at Hull City
“Isaac Hayden has joined the Tigers on loan for the 2015/16 season, the Club is delighted to confirm”, a statement on Hull’s official site read.
Hayden can play in defence or in midfield, but faces plenty of competition in those areas at the moment, with Francis Coquelin, Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere likely to be competing for that deep-lying midfield role this season, while Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker, Gabriel and Calum Chambers should be the main options at centre-back.
The England U20 global showed glimpses of what he can do in his time at the City Ground without ever setting the world alight. However, he has had a productive start to the new campaign after featuring in both games against Lyon and Wolfsburg during the recently concluded Emirates Cup.
Bruce, who has also recruited Newcastle utility player Ryan Taylor and Chesterfield winger Sam Clucas, revealed his side still hope to sign Odubajo’s Brentford teammate Andre Gray.
“This club is an ambitious one, so to be part of this is a great opportunity – it’s a chance for me to prove myself”.
Hull City have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Chuba Akpom on a season-long loan from Arsenal. I’m never going to count my chickens but they’re just the type I’m looking for. “I’m very excited for the season ahead”, the Gunners midfielder added.
The 19-year-old was hoping to stay with the Gunners this season in order to try and compete for a starting role but his young years and lack of experience at the top level counted against him.
